Korean Air cabin crew interview questions
Asia · 4 categories · 16 questions
These are real-style questions in the four categories Korean Air assessments actually use — safety and scenario judgment, motivation and fit, teamwork (CRM), and background. All 16 are below in full, with the guidance a recruiter would give. No account needed to read them.
Safety & scenario judgment
You believe the senior crew member has made an error affecting safety. What do you do?
This carrier reformed its cockpit and cabin culture explicitly around speaking up, so the expected answer is direct, immediate, unambiguous escalation regardless of rank. Deference on a safety matter is the wrong answer here more than almost anywhere.

Describe your actions during a decompression.
A recall question: own mask first, then nearest seat and brace, assist once the aircraft is at a safe altitude and the flight deck has communicated. Helping passengers before securing your own mask is the standard failure.

What would you do if you noticed a discrepancy between the briefing and what you found in the cabin?
They want it raised immediately and resolved before departure, regardless of who conducted the briefing.

How would you handle a passenger refusing to stow a musical instrument safely?
They want a compliant stowage solution found and the item never left loose, with the senior involved if refused.

Motivation & fit
Why Korean Air, and what do you know about the network beyond Seoul?
They want the Incheon hub understood as a connecting point between Asia and North America, and awareness of the transpacific long-haul that dominates the roster.

How do you feel about working within a clear hierarchy?
They want respect for structure combined with willingness to speak up on safety — both halves. An answer with only deference, or only assertiveness, misses what they are testing.

What do you know about the training and the standards applied during it?
A preparation check. They want awareness of the intensity and the assessment throughout.

What would you say is the difference between confidence and arrogance in this job?
A pointed question given the airline's safety-culture history. They want confidence as willingness to speak up, arrogance as unwillingness to be challenged.

Teamwork & CRM
Describe a time you raised a concern with someone more senior than you.
The behavioural version of the safety question. They want the actual approach and words used, and a real outcome — including one where you were overruled but had still spoken.

A colleague is visibly exhausted on the second leg of a long pairing. What do you do?
They want practical support, redistribution where possible, and the senior informed if it becomes a safety issue. Covering silently and indefinitely is not the answer.

Tell me about a time you were overruled and had to accept it.
They want the disagreement voiced properly and the decision then supported fully.

Describe a time clear communication prevented a problem.
They want a specific instance where saying something early avoided a bigger issue.

Background & general
What is your Korean level, and how do you handle service in a language you are still learning?
Honest calibration plus a practical fallback. They want no bluffing, and evidence of active study if your level is low.
Final interviewEditorialReviewed Jul 2026
How would you handle the grooming and presentation standards here?
Standards are detailed and enforced. They want calm acceptance rather than surprise, and no framing of the standards as unreasonable.

How do you prepare for working across many time zones?
They want a concrete sleep and recovery strategy rather than a claim of adaptability.
Final interviewEditorialReviewed Jul 2026
What does attention to presentation say about you as a professional?
They want it connected to reliability and respect rather than treated as vanity.

How airlines typically hire cabin crew
We don’t have a sourced process for Korean Air specifically, so this is the shape most major carriers follow — typically 4–12 weeks.
- 1Application — CV, photos and short motivation questions through the airline’s careers portal.
- 2Video interview — Recorded answers to set questions, reviewed later. No interviewer present.
- 3Assessment day — Group exercises, an English assessment, and reach or height checks. The largest cut happens here.
- 4Final interview — A competency interview, one-to-one, with follow-up questions on your answers.
- 5Offer — Conditional offer, then medical and document checks.

Reading questions is the easy part. This is the same recruiter that runs the full interview — it asks from the list above, pushes back when an answer is thin, and tells you what an assessor would have flagged. No account, no card.
